LASIK, the most commonly performed laser vision correction procedure, is designed to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by combining two safe and effective techniques. First, a precise instrument (microkeratome) is used to create a thin flap of tissue on the center of the cornea. This flap is lifted back to expose the internal tissue, or stroma, of the cornea. Pulses from the excimer laser are then used to vaporize tissue cells one microscopic layer at a time to change the shape of the cornea and correct the refractive error. The flap is replaced over the cornea and heals itself without the need for stitches.
Our doctors have extensive training and experience co-managing LASIK and other refractive surgeries. In fact, all three InSight Eyecare doctors have had LASIK themselves! Dr. Andrew Moyes performs all refractive surgeries for our patients. He has performed over 8,000 refractive surgeries and like all the InSight eyecare doctors, he's been a LASIK patient also!
Our doctors use the latest refractive surgery technology including the Bausch and Lomb Orbscan to determine how good of a candidate you may be for LASIK. To schedule a complimentary LASIK consultation call, please call our office and schedule an appointment.
